A Monday morning AMBER Alert issued for two Tekamah, Nebraska boys has been cancelled.
The AMBER Alert was issued around 8:00 by the Nebraska State Patrol at the request of the Tekamah Police Department. Police in Tekamah believed the two boys, 7 year old Marco and 4 year old Isaac De La Garza, had been abducted from their home in Tekamah.
The Nebraska State Patrol says the boys were abducted by their step-grandfather, 30 year old Tanner Leichleiter.
Following the abduction, investigators determined that the vehicle they were traveling in, a white 2009 Ford Expedition, may be in Kansas. That information was shared with law enforcement personnel throughout Kansas and the AMBER Alert was extended into Kansas by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Around 11:00, deputies with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle and were able to take Tanner Leichleiter into custody and safely recover Marco and Isaac De La Garza. The two boys will be reunited with their parents. Leichleiter is being held in the Sedgwick County Jail.
The investigation conducted by the Tekamah Police Department is ongoing.
