An inmate at the Polk County Jail has tested positive for COVID-19

DES MOINES, Ia. -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office was notified on Wednesday that an inmate at the Polk County Jail has tested positive for COVID-19.

No other information about the inmate was revealed.

The Sheriff's Office says the Jail has and will continue its aggressive cleaning and sanitation measures at the facility. The jail has also increased distancing with the staff and inmate population.

Polk County Sheriff's Office says they are taking guidance from the Polk County Health Department and Iowa Department of Public Health on any potential staff exposures.
