COVID-19 Outbreaks Reported at Three More Iowa Long Term Care Centers

DES MOINES, Iowa - There are now COVID-19 outbreaks at 16 long term care centers in Iowa.

The state health department has reported three new outbreaks - 7 cases at the Harmony House ABCM in Black Hawk County, 16 cases at Living Center West in Linn County and 12 cases at Pearl Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing in Dallas County.

The largest single outbreak at a long term care center is at Hertage Specialty Care in Linn County, where there are 111 cases.

At least half of all COVID-19 deaths in Iowa are connected to long term care centers.

Linn and Polk counties both have four long term care centers with outbreaks. In Polk County, there are 62 cases at Trinity Center at Luther Park (the second highest total in the state), 38 cases at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center, 32 cases at On With Life and six cases at Mitchell Village Care Center.

Muscatine County has two long term care centers with outbreaks, while Blackhawk, Bremer, Dallas, Poweshiek, Tama and Washington counties have one each.
