Nine more deaths, nearly 400 new coronavirus cases in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The COVID-19 coronvirus has killed nine more people in Iowa.

The state Department of Public Health said Monday the nine people are older and elderly adults in Black Hawk, Bremer, Dubuque, Polk, Poweshiek and Washington counties.

Coronavirus has now killed 127 people in Iowa.

Public Health also says there are 393 new cases of COVID-19, pushing the state's total to nearly 5,900 cases. More than 1,000 new cases reported over the weekend comes as the state has increased testing for the virus.

The health department says 300 people are currently hospitalized with coronvirus. More than 2,000 people have recovered.
