Six Residents at Iowa Disabled Center Test Positive For COVID-19

WOODWARD, Iowa - Six residents at Woodward Resource Center have tested positive for COVID-19/coronavirus. The state run center, which houses people with disabilities, first reported a positive case on Friday.

All residents were then tested, with five coming back positive. All six were moved to a different building inside the center as a precautionary measure. None of the six residents showed symptoms of the COVID-19

The Department of Human Services also says eight employees that work at five different facilities have tested positive for the virus, including three from Woodward Resource Center.

The department had previously announced that five employees at four different facilities had tested positive for COVID-19. The department employs roughly 2,200 staff at its six state facilities.

Woodward Resource Center and Glenwood Resource Center in Iowa both house people with severe disabilities.
