Tyson Pork Processing Plant In Waterloo Set To Reopen Thursday

The Tyson pork processing plant in Waterloo is re-opening to limited production on Thursday. With the re-opening employees will be forced to wear masks and have their temperatures taken.

"After they go through the screening process, we're asking them a series of questions on how they feel for today and ensure team members feel well before they come into work," Tyson spokesman Shane Miller says.

New partitions are also put up on the assembly line to limit contact among employees. Waterloo Mayor Quenton Hart says some employees have been scared to go to work because of the virus. "We're just hoping the trust level can be restored between the workers and the company."

More than 16-hundred Iowa meatpacking workers have been diagnosed with coronavirus.
