DES MOIES, Iowa - There are 16 new deaths in Iowa from COVID-19/coronavirus as of early Tuesday morning, according to the state health department. The total number of deaths is 367.
There are now more than 15,000 positive cases in the state, a total of 15,202.
Governor Kim Reynolds announced Monday that the state’s coronavirus website will now report statistics as the data comes in rather than once per day as had previously been the case.
As of early Tuesday, 106,427 people in the state had been tested for the virus. The rate of positive tests is 14.3 percent, although the daily rate in now at 7.1 percent. The recommended rate of positive tests is 10 percent or under.
There have been 7,827 coronavirus recoveries in Iowa. The recovery rate is about 51 percent, a number that has continued to rise. The recovery rate has recently been in the mid to upper 40's.
Polk County has the most positive cases in the state at 3,077. That means about six out of every 1,000 people in Polk County have the virus
The positive COVID-19 cases reported by the health department represent diagnosed individuals, not necessarily the total number of cases in the state.
