JOHNSTON, Iowa - The state is stepping up efforts to track anti-body testing for COVID-19.
The method - known as Serology Testing - detects coronavirus antibodies and indicates if a person has been infected with the virus and had an immune response to it.
The Iowa Department of Public Health thinks the information will help in understanding the spread of coronavirus across the state.
There's now a Serology Testing Dashboard on the state's COVID-19 website.
As of Wednesday morning, it showed 12,528 people had been tested, with 1,687 positive results and a 13 percent positive rate. A positive test means the person has antibodies.
The main candidates for the Serology Test are currently people previously infected with the virus who want to donate plasma.
The state hygienic lab is using technology provided by Abbott ARCHITECT to conduct the testing.
