DES MOINES, Iowa - The state is reporting 385 new cases of COVID-19, along with nine additional deaths as of 10 a.m. Saturday.
A total of 650 people in Iowa have died from the virus and 23,551 have tested positive out of 218,976 tests overall.
The state reports 5,478 people were tested Friday. A high mark of nearly 7,000 people were tested a week age. Governor Kim Reynolds has set a goal of 5,000 tests per day between the TestIowa program and the state hygienic lab. One in 14 Iowans have been tested for the virus.
Buena Vista County continues to show the biggest concentration of COVID-19 cases based on population, and that number continues to rapidly grow.
Buena Vista County now has 7,769 cases per 100,000 residents. By comparison, Crawford County has the second highest concentration per 100,000 - 3,491. Polk, the largest population county in the state, has 1,042 cases per 100,000. Overall cases have been on the rise in Polk County, and surpassed 5,000 total Friday.
The state has conducted 25,876 Serology tests to find anti-bodies in people who have contracted and recovered for COVID-19. There have been 2,097 positive Serology tests, accounting for 8 percent of those tests.
There have been 14,309 recoveries from the virus for a recovery rate of 60 percent.
The state is reporting COVID-19 outbreaks at 36 long term care centers, a increase of one from Friday. There have been 341 long term care center deaths, accounting for 52 percent of the state's total.
Overall, COVID-19 case counts have flattened since early May, and are slowly tapering off for the past month.
The numbers for the state only represent COVID-19 figures compiled by the Iowa Department of Public Health. Unreported cases and deaths could make the actual figures different.
