MARION COUNTY, Iowa -- A Marion County man who successfully sued one of his sons for the wrongful death of his wife in 2015 has been hospitalized after allegedly being attacked by his other son.
55 year-old Billy Dean Carter is facing felony charges for an incident that took place on Wednesday.
According to the criminal complaint, Billy Dean Carter got into an argument with his father, 74 year-old Bill Carter at his home in Lacona.
Billy later told police he left the home on foot following the argument when his father drove up to him in his truck, got out, and approached him.
Billy admitted to hitting his father and kicking him twice in the head while he was down on the ground.
He then hid in a nearby field.
Some time later another person spotted Bill Carter lying on the the side of the road.
When authorities arrived, they found that Bill Carter had suffered head injuries. Investigators say Billy Carter admitted to assaulting his father out of anger.
A no contact order is in effect to protect Bill Carter.
The extent of his injuries it not yet known.
