Boone County Sheriff's Office investigates pipe bomb

BOONE, Iowa -- The Boone County Sheriff’s Office wants to know who's responsible for the pipe bomb found in a county hunting area.

On it's Facebook page, the sheriff's office says the device was found Monday on the lid of a container at the area south of Highway 30.

The department says the pipe bomb was set to explode on delay, and anyone near it could have been seriously hurt.

Boone County says the Iowa State Fire Marshall's Office took apart the device after it was examined.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is analyzing evidence gathered at the scene.
