DES MOINES, Iowa - The are three new deaths from COVID-19 in Iowa and 744 additional positive cases of the virus as of Friday at 10 a.m.
There are 33,756 total cases, as 7,972 tests were conducted Wednesday, a record for daily testing in Iowa. The positive test rate for Thursday was 7.5Iowa's COVID-19 Deaths Minimal, 870 new cases Reported percent.
There have been a total of 742 deaths statewide. Daily reported deaths and hospitalizations have generally been falling over the past several weeks, with daily totals in single-digits.
Iowa officials have acknowledged a rise in cases among adults age 18-40.
A total of 361,252 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Iowa, and one-in-9 Iowans has been tested.
There have been 25,750 recoveries from the virus in the state. Governor Reynolds announced last week that the metrics for determining recoveries was changed. Because of the change, the recovery rate jumped from 62 percent to roughly 80 percent .
The state is reporting COVID-19 outbreaks at 15 long term care centers, down two from Thursday. Long term center outbreaks have dropped sharply from as much as 36 in recent weeks. There have been 392 long term care center deaths, accounting for 53 percent of the state total.
There are 169 hospitalizations from the virus. There are 54 ICU patients with 26 on ventilators.
