DES MOINES,Iowa - A report from the watchdog group Center for Public Integrity cites a un-publicized document prepared for the White House Coronavirus Task Force earlier this week that lists five Iowa counties as coronavirus "Red Zones".
Five Iowa counties are listed as coronavirus Red Zones in the report, and it says Iowa is one of 18 states that should put some virus-related restrictions back in place because of increasing coronavirus cases.
In Central Iowa, Webster County including the City of Fort Dodge has a COVID positive rate above 10-percent. The other four Red Zone counties are Sioux, Franklin, Clarke and Osceola.
Forty-two Iowa counties are in the report's Yellow Zones, with positive COVID rates between 5 to 10-percent.
Among the top area in that list are Polk County (the Des Moines metro area), Story County (including Ames), plus Johnson (Iowa City), Black Hawk (Waterloo), Scott County (Davenport), and Dubuque County (and City of Dubuque).
Linn County (including Cedar Rapids) has a positive rate between 1 and 5 percent.
