Two-year Anniversary of Mollie Tibbetts Disappearance

BROOKLYN, Iowa - It's been about two-years since the disappearance of Mollie Tibbetts.

Saturday marked the day the 20-year-old University of Iowa student went missing on a run near her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa, that sparked a months-long search earning national attention.

The accused killer Cristhian Rivera, led police to her body, hidden in a cornfield near Brooklyn.

He reportedly confessed to police that he approached Tibbetts while she was jogging on July 18, 2018.

Rivera was charged with first-degree murder, though his trial has been delayed several times.

A trial is scheduled in Scott County for January 25, 2021.
