FORT DODGE, Iowa - A woman is dead after an apartment fire in Fort Dodge.
Firefighters were called to the 600 block of Central Avenue just after 2 pm Sunday, where they found heavy smoke coming from an apartment unit. An alarm had also been activated.
An adult woman was found inside the unit who was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the fire, and was taken the the State Medical Examiner's Office.investigation.
