DES MOINES, Iowa - Two Dunkin' Donuts employees have been terminated after Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek said he was recently refused service at a local Dunkin' Donuts.
He told WHO Radio sister station 1460 KXNO that he goes to the same location multiple times a week, but this past Saturday a worker refused to serve him.
"So I walked out and I sat down in my car," said Parizek. "I was really mad. The more I thought about it, the more I got to thinking, nobody can guarantee me that they haven't been doing something to those products over the past four months."
A Dunkin' Donuts employee in Illinois was fired Friday after a state trooper found mucus in his drink.
Parizek says he's reached out to the store manager, the franchisee, and Dunkin' corporate offices and asked for an explanation about refusing him service.
Dunkin' Donuts has confirmed that two employees at that location have been fired by the franchise owner.
The Dunkin' Donuts statement is below.
“We are aware of the incident that took place at the Dunkin' restaurant, located at 1220 E 14th Street in Des Moines, IA. The employees' behavior is not consistent with Dunkin’s goal of creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for all our of guests. Additionally, Dunkin’ respects the efforts of our police force as they work to maintain a safe community for all of us. The franchise owner, who independently owns and operates this restaurant, informs us that the two individuals responsible have been terminated. The franchise owner has also connected with the police officer to apologize for the experience.”
