FORT DODGE, Iowa - A 1st Degree Murder suspect is captured after being tracked down by Fort Dodge Police this morning.
A K-9 found 36-year-old Justin Hurdel in an area outside Fort Dodge (just north of the junction of Highway 20 and County Road P59) after Police and Webster County deputies received a report about a suspicious person.
Hurdel was taken to a hospital for injuries prior his capture before being booked into the Webster County Jail.
He's charged in the murder of his wife, 38-year-old Maggie Hurdel, Wednesday afternoon.
Officers found Maggie Hurdel with a gunshot wound after being called to the 500 block of South 19th Street in Fort Dodge around 2:00 pm Wednesday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fort Dodge Police continue to investigate the shooting and are encouraging anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
