DES MOINES, Iowa - Des Moines Police have arrested 33-year-old Des Moines resident Whitney Ann Davis in connection to the shooting death of a 36-year-old man at an apartment complex in the Drake University area (13-hundred block of 23rd Street) Wednesday afternoon.
Davis is charged with 1 st Degree.
Officers have identified Des Moines resident Sean Newman as the person who was shot at about 2:30 pm Wednesday. Newman was found still breathing in a hallway, but later died.
Police say it appears Newman and and the suspect knew each other. Detectives are collecting evidence and talking with witnesses and neighbors.
The Wednesday shooting is the 16th homicide in Des Moines in 2020.
