For now, the students in the Des Moines Public School District will continue learning online.
The Des Moines School Board voted 4-3 to prepare for a hybrid return to school plan, which would include both in-person and online learning.
The district says some at-risk students could be brought back into classrooms before all buildings are re-opened.
DMPS will be monitoring COVID-19 conditions, and transition to a hybrid model when it is safe to do so.
