CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - ITC Midwest will conduct aerial helicopter patrols of high-voltage power lines and structures in the Cedar Rapids Area starting October 13th.
The company says it could take two to four days to complete the patrols.
The August 10th derecho impacted over 12 hundred miles of power lines, which is roughly 20% of the entire ITC Midwest transmission system.
The helicopter patrols will help the company assess the overall status of its electric transmission system. The patrol flights will be conducted at low altitude for accurate visual inspections.
