STORY COUNTY, Iowa - It took fire fighters four hours to contain a fire in a Story County corn field Sunday afternoon.
WHO-TV reports they were told the fire was likely caused by a cigarette tossed from a car window, although the cause is still under investigation.
The Maxwell Fire Department says a driver first spotted the fire in a ditch in rural road between Nevada and Maxwell.
It took crews from seven fire departments to put out the fire once it spread to the field, according to WHO-TV.
