Colder weather in Iowa to end the week

DES MOINES, Iowa -- One more day of unseasonably warm weather on Wednesday, then a big change is coming.

"Cooler weather for Thursday and for much of the next week--looking at highs across the state in the 40's, 50's, and 60's" says National Weather Service Meteorologist Jessica Brooks.

She says there could be frost in some parts of the state late Wednesday night and early Thursday, with even colder lows by early Friday morning.

"Thursday night will be pretty cold--looking at a potential freeze for pretty much the entire state" she says.

Brooks says there's also a chance of precipitation by late Saturday into Sunday...

"With the colder air coming in, it's not out of the realm of possibility for maybe a mix of rain and snow at some point. We're not looking at anything with accumulating snow" she says.

Brooks says there's a better chance for precipitation to fall as snow in Northwest Iowa, where temperatures will be coldest.
