DES MOINES, Iowa - A billboard on Fleur Drive in Des Moines reads “Trump COVID Superspreader Event” and features an arrow pointing toward the airport.
The agricultural interest group Rural America 2020 is behind the sign, which is greeting travelers on their way to a Trump rally Wednesday.
The president is holding a rally in a hangar at Des Moines International Airport this evening at six.
The president and Governor Kim Reynolds have encouraged attendance, while Mayor Frank Cownie has expressed concern the rally could lead to a spread of COVID-19.
The billboard went up Tuesday, less than two weeks after Trump was released. White House doctor Sean Conley cleared Trump campaign travel earlier this week.
The president's Des Moines appearance comes 20 days before November's election. Polls show Trump and Joe Biden are locked in a tie contest in Iowa, although national polling shows Biden with a near double digit lead.
