A mix of temperatures, precipitation for Iowa this week

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa weather could bring a little bit of everything this week.

The state could see a 25 to 30 degree swing in temperatures by Thursday.

"Through the next couple of days, you'll notice it's going to stay rather cool with highs only in the 40's. As we get through the middle of the week we'll be looking at winds moving out from the south, and we may warm up to near 70 degrees again by Thursday" says National Weather Service Meteorologist Cory Martin.

He says it's also shaping up to be damp week across Iowa, after snow on Sunday gives way to a possible a rain-snow mix possible on Monday.

"We are looking at daily systems passing through which will bring a chance for precipitation--maybe cool enough where we see some snowflakes mixed in. There's a chance of rain on Tuesday, then Wednesday night into Thursday there's a chance for thunderstorms" Martin says.

He says there's not much chance for severe weather with those thunderstorms.

Martin says the long-range forecast calls for another cool-down by the weekend.
