DES MOINES, Iowa -- A Test Iowa site in Des Moines is moving.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds' office says the COVID-19 testing site currently located at Merle Hay Mall will close when testing concludes on Friday.
The site is moving to 4475 NE 3rd St.--east of the Bridgestone Firestone plant on Northwest 2nd Street.
The Governor's Office says that location provides an enclosed structure to protect Test Iowa staff and others from winter weather and still lets people stay in their cars while being tested.
The site will open for testing on Monday, October 26th at 8 a.m.
A second site in Des Moines, located at Polk County River Place, 2309 Euclid Ave., will remain open through November 6. At that time, Test Iowa will continue to serve the Des Moines metro and its surrounding areas at the NE 3rd Street site.
The state is working on plans to relocate or transition Test Iowa drive-thru sites as winter approaches.
