DES MOINES, Iowa - More than a million absentee ballots have been requested in Iowa. About 925,000 have been returned ahead on Monday's deadline to have them postmarked.
Republicans will likely enter election day Tuesday trailing in votes as Democrats lead in absentee ballots cast by a 46 percent to 33 percent margin. No Party absentee ballots account for 20 percent of the total.
Democrats have cast 123,657 more absentee ballots than Republicans.
Roughly half of active Iowa voters have requested absentee ballots. Republicans outnumber Democrats in the state by roughly 13,000. There are more than 646,000 active voters not affiliated with any party in Iowa.
