CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Iowa Giving Crew is gearing up for its annual "Operation Give Birds" for the Thanksgiving holiday.
It's giving away free turkey meals on November 22nd at two locations in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, and is now conducting sign-ups.
Iowa Giving Crew is a non-profit that started from a prank on Craigslist about free turkeys in 2017.
The free uncooked meals being offered will consist of a turkey and sides that the group says will feed a family of 4.
The pickup locations at Van Meter, 847 32nd Ave SW in Cedar Rapids and at Van Meter , 470 Ruppert Rd in Iowa City.
Donations can also be made through Venmo or PayPal.
