Cool and wet weather to start the week

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa's trading six days of warm, windy and dry weather for something wetter and cooler.

"Expect showers and thunderstorms to move into the area during the day Monday--especially later in the day. And then a pretty drastic change for Tuesday" says National Weather Service Meteorologist Ron Donovan.

He says rain on Tuesday could be mixed with snow.

"Northwest Iowa will have a switch-over to snow, especially in the morning and through the afternoon hours. Temperatures will be steady or slowly falling into the 40s throughout the day" Donovan says

Donovan says Central and Eastern Iowa could get three-quarters to an inch-and-a-half of rain through Tuesday.

He says temperatures will be back in the 50's by mid-week.
