Test Iowa Sites Reopen After Holiday; COVID-19 Numbers on Downward Trend

DES MONES, Iowa - The five Test Iowa sites are back open today with normal hours after closing for Thanksgiving.

Testing numbers have been high because of the rapid spread of COVID-19 across the state, although there's been a recent downward trend.

The five Test Iowa sites in Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Council Bluffs and Davenport are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

There are also 21 independently operated Test Iowa Clinics across the state that have differing hours of operation. Find out more here.

The downward trend in COVID-19 numbers for Iowa appears to be continuing. As of Friday morning, hospitalizations, deaths and the number of counties with a high positivity rate are down. There are 85 counties with a 14-day average positivity rate at or higher than 15 percent, down from a high mark of 96 earlier in November.

Iowa continues to be one of several states where the number of new COVID-19 cases is still high, but falling.

Overall, hospitalizations continue to be high and nursing home outbreaks are also near their high mark.
