Parts of Iowa could see measurable snow by Saturday morning

DES MOINES, Iowa -- We have an idea how Friday's snowstorm will roll into Iowa.

"By Friday afternoon we'll likely start off with some rain showers, and then see a brief period of a wintery mix of rain and snow. As we get later into the evening on Friday most of that should transition to all snow" says National Weather Service Meteorologist Alex Krull.

He says the heaviest snow will cover a band through Central Iowa.

"Two to four inches would be the higher band that we're expecting--most of that for Central Iowa along the Interstate 80 corridor. Most of the accumulating snowfall, where people will see something measurable will be along Highway 20 and southward" Krull says

The Weather Service says the far Northwest and Southeast corners of Iowa may see any rain or snow.
