DES MOINES, Iowa - Newly elected Iowa Republican Congressman Randy Feenstra is not ready to call Joe Biden the U.S. president-elect.
The Gazette reports Feenstra said he wants to wait for President Trump's legal challenges to play out after the high level of mail-in ballots in the election.
He said he's looking forward to January 6th, when Congress will receive the Electoral College results.
Feenstra is one of 25 incoming Republican U.S. House members to sign a letter calling for Congress to investigate claims of voter fraud in the presidential election.
He made comments during the Thursday recording of the “Iowa Press” program at Iowa PBS studios.
Feenstra defeated U.S. Rep. Steve King in the June Republican primary and was elected to succeed King in the November general election.
Democrat Joe Biden defeated President Trump in the presidential election in November. Trump and his allies have since mounted scores of lawsuits challenging the election results, but they've almost uniformly been rejected by state and federal courts as well as at least two cases in the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Electoral College this week confirmed election results giving Biden 306 Electoral College votes to Trump's 232.
