>>(Des Moines, Iowa) -- A man is in custody after Des Moines Police say he used a child as a human shield as officers were trying to arrest him.
Police say they'd been looking for Lewis Butts on outstanding warrants. Officers received a tip on Butts' location, but somehow Butts became aware of the tip and called in a false tip of his own.
When officers confirmed Butts' location, police say he barricaded the door and held an 11 year-old child in front of him as officers tried to arrest him. Officers say they convinced Butts to put the child down, then took him into custody.
Butts is facing multiple charges.
