The Iowa Department of Public Health announced that those 64 and younger in the state with underlying health conditions can get a COVID-19 vaccine starting Monday.
That's not the case in Polk County.
The Polk County Health Department says their supply of the vaccines at this time isn’t enough for them to open up registration for the newly approved tier of Iowans.
They say they're focused now on finishing vaccinating those currently eligible, which includes those 65 and older, PK-12 Staff, early childhood education workers and childcare workers, and Healthcare workers and long term care facility staff and residents.
Pharmacies in Polk County are calling patients to cancel previously made appointments for the next vaccine group.
Polk County is the only county so far to hold off on expanding vaccine eligibility.
