(Des Moines, Iowa) -- Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds will sign an executive order to address childcare concerns in Iowa.
The Governor announced Wednesday that the executive order will establish the Governor's Childcare Task Force, designed to increase childcare services in Iowa.
Soon-to-be Task Force Chair Emily Schmitt says the goal is to take a broad view of childcare needs across the state and incentivize employers to partner with childcare providers. Schmitt adds the task force will look at ways to assist women whose jobs have been impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Schmitt is the General Counsel of Sukup Manufacturing Co., and has served in the past on the Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
