A big milestone in Iowa's fight against COVID-19.
The Iowa Department of Public Health announced on Friday that the state has administered more than 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
"I'm extremely proud of our progress and I look forward to expanding eligibility to all Iowans as supply increases," said Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds in a statement. "In his address to the nation last evening, President Biden directed states to open vaccination to all adults by May 1. Here in Iowa, it's possible we could beat that deadline as long as vaccine supply increases as projected and remains stable."
Over 28% of eligible Iowans age 18 and up have received at least one dose. Just under 15% of Iowans are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Around 95% of Iowans age 65 and up have received at least one doses of vaccine, with over 27% of Iowans between age 18-64 receiving one dose so far.
