Severe Weather Awareness Week Kicks Off in Iowa

IOWA - The National Weather Service in Iowa is holding Severe Weather Awareness Week beginning Monday.

The annual statewide tornado drill takes place at 11 AM on Wednesday, and will be activated by the NOAA Weather Radio Weekly Test and through social media.

The weather service is encouraging schools, businesses and local governments to take part while still keeping in mind COVID-19 protocol.

The National Weather Service Offices in Des Moines and Davenport are providing information on specific topics each day this week.
