DES MOINES, Iowa - The trial of a man accused of killing a mother and her two children in Des Moines is scheduled for Monday after several delays.
Marvin Escobar-Orellana is charged with first-degree murder after police said he killed the mother, 29-year-old Rossibeth Flores-Rodriguez, along with her 11-year-old daughter, Grecia Daniela Alvarado-Flores, and her 5-year-old son, Ever Jose Mejia-Flores.
The trial has been delayed numerous times over scheduling conflicts and the COVID-19 pandemic.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says Escobar-Orellana is an undocumented immigrant, who has been deported from the U.S. twice before.
He was convicted of illegal entry into the United States in 2010.
Court documents show Escobar-Orellana’s eight-year-old son witnessed the shootings he's accused of.
He's being held in Polk County Jail under $3 million bond.
