(Johnston, IA) -- Today is the deadline for people in Johnston who want to be an absentee voter in the upcoming special city council election. The city announced on social media residents have until 5:00 p.m. to submit the online application for an absentee ballot. Voters will elect either Candidates Bryan Burkhardt or Adam Haar from the May 25th primary election for a Johnston City Council seat. The special election is June 22nd, 2021 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. People can learn where to vote on the Polk County website.
