(Linn County, IA) -- The Linn County Sheriff's is releasing the description of a man accused of shooting a deputy several times during a robbery in Coggon, 30-miles north of Cedar Rapids.
Authorities say the suspect is a black male, mid-30s, 5'10 to 6'2 and approximately 200 to 220 pounds. Authorities say the suspect was wearing a dark colored, hooded sweatshirt and dark pants during the robbery.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office says a deputy was called to the Casey's General Store at 5110 Highway 13 after 10 o'clock last (Sunday) night, and was shot several times as he entered the convenience store. The deputy was flown to University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with serious injuries.
