One person is in custody after a standoff with police that lasted for over ten hours on Saturday.
Police were called to the 2700 block of Sampson Street, near Grand View University, on a report of gunfire in the area just before 3 a.m. Saturday.
The suspected person then barricaded themselves inside of a home.
They were taken into custody this afternoon. Police say there's no ongoing threat in the neighborhood.
Update from the Des Moines Police Department:
37-year-old Des Moines resident David Harbold has been charged with the following offenses:
· Intimidation With A Dangerous Weapon (2 Counts)
· Interference With Official Acts With Dangerous Weapon
At this point in the investigation, it has been determined that two neighboring homes were struck by gunfire in the early morning hours. There were no injuries.
At the time Harbold was taken in to custody, he was armed with a handgun.
Harbold is being held at the Polk County Jail.
