(Faribault County, MN) -- A Des Moines boy is dead after a southern Minnesota crash late last (Monday) night. The Minnesota State Patrol says 48-year-old Kyle Backhaus of Des Moines, lost control of his pick-up on Interstate-90, west of Albert Lea, in Faribault County. The patrol says shortly before 11:30 p.m. Backhaus' Chevy Silverado east eastbound on I-90 and went into a ditch, then crossed both eastbound lanes of traffic and rolled into a south ditch.
A 12-year-old boy in the truck died in the crash. Backhaus is hospitalized.
