CDC and White House want vaccinated people to mask up again, but why?

Here we go again! Around half of Iowa Counties qualify for vaccinated people to be masked up indoors following new guidelines from the CDC and White House yesterday.

The CDC is now recommending that fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors while in areas with "substantial" and "high" transmission rates of COVID-19. According to the CDC, 46 Iowa Counties meet that threshold, although the State's most populous one - Polk - so far does not.

Iowa's Governor Kim Reynolds is not happy and issued a statement yesterday. “The Biden Administration’s new COVID-19 guidance telling fully vaccinated Iowans to now wear masks is not only counterproductive to our vaccination efforts, but also not grounded in reality or common sense. I’m concerned that this guidance will be used as a vehicle to mandate masks in states and schools across the country, something I do not support.”

And she wasn't done! “The vaccine remains our strongest tool to combat COVID-19, which is why we are going to continue to encourage everyone to get the vaccine,” Reynolds said. “I am proud that we recently put new laws in place that will protect Iowans against unnecessary government mandates in our schools and local governments. As I have throughout this pandemic, I trust Iowans to do the right thing.”

Why do you think the Federal Government is trying to get us to mask up again?
