(Des Moines, IA) -- The electricity is back on for people who lost power during storms in the Des Moines area. MidAmerican Energy workers have restored power to thousands of customers. The outages were reportedly caused by storms that moved through the area overnight. MidAmerican Energy says many homes in Des Moines, West Des Moines, Carlisle, Waukee, Urbandale, Pleasantville, and surrounding areas were without power. Nearly 12,000 customers originally lost power since late Monday night.
