(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Police say their crisis negotiators were able to defuse a dangerous mental health situation today (Thursday) with a man waving a knife at others. Officers were called to M-L-King Junior Parkway and Prospect Road around 9:30. Police were able to get the man to give up the knife. He was taken to a local hospital.
