DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa lawmakers will be back on the job in Des Moines Tuesday, talking political redistricting.
State Senators and Representatives are back in the Capital to decide the fate of new political maps for the Legislature and Iowa's seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The non-partisan Legislative Services Agency released the proposed maps last month after factoring in Iowa population changes during the 2020 U.S. Census
Lawmakers can either accept the maps has they've been presented and set state and federal political districts for the next 10 years, or reject them and put the LSA back to work drawing up new versions.
If lawmakers reject the maps for a second time, they can amend a third proposal, which could give majority Republicans the opportunity to make to help themselves politically.
The Iowa Supreme Court has set a December 1st deadline to have the maps approved.
