DES MOINES, Iowa -- An Iowa State patrol trooper is seriously hurt in Northeast Iowa traffic accident.
The Department of Public Safety says Trooper Ted Benda was helping the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday when he was involved in a single vehicle collision on Highway 51 north of Postville.
Benda was airlifted to a hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin where he's in critical condition.
DPS says the accident remains under investigation.
