(Des Moines, IA) -- A man is in custody in Des Moines after allegedly leading police on a short car chase. It started when a Polk County Conservation Ranger tried pulling over a truck in Easter Lake Park Monday. Police were called to assist when the driver refused to stop. Police completed a PIT maneuver on the truck after the suspect rammed a patrol car head on. Police found seven dogs in the truck. Michael Scott Bird has been named as the suspect.
