Fire Danger With Relatively Warm And Windy Conditions

WOWT 6 News Senior Chief Meteorologist Rusty Lord says the mornings this week will be cold, what you would expect in February, but the afternoons will have highs 15 to 25 degrees above average.

He says after Monday, strong winds are likely the rest of the week.

The Omaha National Weather Service points out the breezy conditions and warmer winter temperatures will lead to an increased wildfire risk across the region.

They say any fires would ignite easily and spread quickly on Monday and Tuesday.

Avoid parking in dry grasses, do not burn outside, and do not toss cigarettes or matches out of your vehicle windows.
