The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says the investigation continues, and reports will eventually be turned over to the Johnson County Attorney for any charging decision after an inmate at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution is accused of assaulting a staff member earlier this week resulting in a serious injury.
Corrections says the staff member was interviewing the inmate about a recent infraction, when the inmate suddenly moved toward him and began punching him in the head and face.
A second staff member, who was also in the office, secured the inmate.
The injured staff member was treated at the hospital for a broken nose.
