Storms Expected In Iowa Today

(Des Moines, IA) -- Most of Iowa will see some thunderstorm activity today (Saturday). The National Weather Service in Des Moines says storms are likely in western Iowa between 2 and 3 p.m. Forecasters expect storms to move quickly to the east-northeast into most of central and southern Iowa late afternoon into Saturday night.

The main threat of the storms include damaging winds, hail, and possible tornados.

A Wind Advisory will be in effect Saturday starting at 6 PM until 3 AM Sunday for the following counties:

Carroll-Greene-Boone-Story-Marshall-Tama-Audubon-Guthrie-Dallas-

Polk-Jasper-Poweshiek-Cass-Adair-Madison-Warren-Marion-Mahaska-

Adams-Union-Clarke-Lucas-Monroe-Wapello-Taylor-Ringgold-Decatur-

Wayne-Appanoose-Davis-

West northwest winds could be 20-to-25 MPH with gusts up to 45 MPH, which could blow around unsecured objects and cause tree damage and possible power outages.
